In a new move, Google could be launching a dedicated online file storage solution. Whilst Google Docs has started to move towards online file storage, the rumoured Google Cloud Picker could be a stand alone file storage solution.
The rumour, published by TechCrunch from a number of well placed sources and forums suggests,
… that it is a new storage product that allows users to organize and search photos, documents, videos and more that are stored in the cloud. From the looks of it, it seems more consumer focused as opposed to an enterprise tool.
If this indeed becomes a fully functional file storage and collaboration solution, it will compete directly with the likes of Box.net and Dropbox as well adding more competition to Facebook when [if] it intergrates its recent purchase of Drop.io.
